1st day Trieste: Arrival in Trieste, a mitteleuropean city for the excelence, crossroads of people and art, the cosmopolita n city and a boundary with the imperial soul. Trieste is known for its historic cafés, frequented by writers and artists, like Umberto Saba, James Joyce and Italo Svevo. Its elegant and austere atmosphere contains treasures of a rare beauty. Arrival – accommodation in a hotel and lunch. In the early afternoon there will be a meeting with the guide that will accompany the group during the tour and a classical tour of the city where the symbolic places of history, religion, economy and art will be discovered. Later the tour of the Miramare Castle is following. The castle with its slender shape and the white marble stone towards the blue of the sea is one of the most beautiful and visited castles in Italy. Visible from every part of the city it fascinates visitors for the originality of the furnishings, the beauty of its gardens and the story of the tragic love story of Maximilian of Hapsburg and Charlotte of Belgium. Free time to immerse oneself in the lights and sounds of Christmas markets set up in Piazza Unità and the Grand Canal in Trieste. Dinner in hotel.
2nd day Grado and Aquileia: Departure for Grado, the Golden Island with Venetian features, embellished with a maze of islets that form its evocative lagoon. Guided tour to discover the early Christian buildings of the Campo dei Patriarchi and the remains of the ancient Roman settlement. Visit the review of the Cribs in Grado, with over one hundred nativities scattered in every corner of the island and the floating crib inside a big house (typical lagoon house), above a moored barge in the middle of the Mandracchio. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon the guided tour to Aquileia, a precious treasure of the art and the history, one of the largest and richest cities of the Roman Empire and it is a UNESCO heritage since 1998. A classical tour of Aquileia, the Patriarchal Basilica and the Archaeological Area. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
3rd day Cividale and Udine: Departure for Cividale, a UNESCO heritage, one of the most fascinating cities of Friuli. Perched on the banks of the Natisone river, marked and enriched by the passage of the Longobards and Franks, it is the symbol of an era of great pomp and a keeper of extraordinary works. Guided tour of the town, the Duomo and the Lombard Temple. Lunch at a restaurant and free time to visit the Christmas markets that invade the streets of the city center and where you can taste delicious apple fritters and drink some mulled wine. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon follows the trip to Udine, a city with Venetian charmed squares and ancient buildings. The guide will lead the group to discover the city’s squares and monuments. Free time to walk and see the markets in the center and so the guide will greet you and will wish you a nice trip.
