You will discover the stories and the curiosities of the historical, artistic and cultural characters that have given prestige to the city among these Italo Svevo, James Joyce and Umberto Saba. The Tour starts from Unità d’Italia Square, the largest square in Europe overlooking the sea. It crosses the streets of the historical center where you can see the remains of the Roman city such as the Roman Theater dating back to the I and II century AD. It continues along the Grand Canal and the Teresian village, the new city, built by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and symbol of the multiethnic and cosmopolitan character of Trieste. It runs through Square of Borsa, the nerve center of the Trieste economy throughout the 19th century. It goes into the tangle of narrow streets of the Jewish ghetto to reach the alleys of the old city, muse of the poet verses of the poet Umberto Saba and place that has welcomed the great part of the Roman city, medieval and early modern age. The end of the Tour is in Torino Street, the heart of Trieste’s nightlife and Venezia Square, which overlooks the Revoltella Museum which houses one of the most important collections of modern art in Italy.
